Microsoft Authenticator App *Microsoft Authenticator app is not available for installation on phones with earlier versions of iOS or Android or Windows phones. If you have one of these, and Microsoft Authenticator app is already installed on it, it should continue to work; however Microsoft no longer provides support for any issues that may arise with these unsupported OS versions.

- Internet connection via Wi-Fi or cell plan
Microsoft Authenticator App passcodes - Phone with an operating system that support the Microsoft Authenticator app*
- Installation of the Microsoft app
- Internet connection NOT required to access One-time passcodes
Texted code - Cellular connection. Required when requesting a text message code.
Phone call - Cellular connection
- If you're traveling outside the U.S., your phone must also have the ability to receive international calls
- Tablet

Method Requirements Texted Passcode - Cell phone capable of receiving SMS text messages
- Cell connection. Required when requesting a text message code
Phone call - Cell connection
- If you're traveling outside U.S., your phone must also have the ability to received international calls
- VoIP Phone
Method Requirements Phone Calls - System capable of recognizing DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) touch tones
- Internet connection
- YubiKey
Method Requirements and Limitations Security Key Tap - A security key that supports the FIDO2 authentication standard, which includes support for both the U2F protocol and the WebAuthn API (e.g., YubiKey)
- A security key that supports the FIDO U2F authentication standard, which does not include support for the WebAuthn API
- These keys can't be used with Firefox
- You must select this security key from the drop-down list of your enrolled devices in order to authenticate in Chrome
- Examples include Yubico's Yubikey NEO-n
- An available USB port
- One of the following supported web browsers
- Chrome
- Microsoft Edge Browser
- Opera
- Safari
- Internet Explorer
